Custom Home Pages

Official FSU web sites may create a unique home page design from a customizable version of Site Design Option 1. Custom home page designs must following these guidelines in addition to meeting the General Requirements listed above.

  • The custom design is required to follow the guidelines for appropriate use of the template areas as outlined in the Explanation of Template Areas.

  • Page size of 760 x 420 pixels to fill the viewable area of an 800 x 600 pixel screen.

A Adobe Photoshop file is provided to be used as a guide when creating a custom home page design. The canvas dimensions in the file are 760 pixels by 381 pixels (h x w). The file includes the area from the top of the Program/Unit Identifier to the bottom of the optional secondary navigation area.

When the custom design is implemented in the HTML University web template file, which includes the code for the required University Identifier area above and the required Footer area below the custom design area, the result is a web page with a final height of roughly 420 pixels (the required height for custom designed home pages).

  • Custom designed home pages must be reviewed by the Web Advisory Group prior to implementation. Contact the FSU Webmaster to initiate this review.

  • Secondary pages of sites with a custom designed home page must use a standard implementation of Site Design Option 1.
