Frostburg State University uses the Blackboard
Learning System to offer its students an accessible and technologically-advanced
way of learning. Blackboard is used in an array of ways at FSU.
It is used to web-facilitate face-to-face classes by allowing instructors
to augment their courses in such ways as posting grades electronically,
creating discussion forums and posting documents for download by
students.
Additionally, Frostburg State University offers online
courses so that students have greater accessibility
and flexibility in advancing their educations. FSU's online educators
are regular faculty members who have been extensively trained to
teach in the unique online environment both effectively and rigorously.
We are proud to offer our students this educational opportunity
during Intersession and Summer Sessions and occasionally during
the semester. Please email cit@frostburg.edu
with questions about this program.
The Blackboard Learning System is an industry-leading course
management system which is curriculum-driven. Content management
and content sharing provides instructors with flexibility and control
and students with a structured and reliable online learning environment.
Blackboard is web-based and provides tools for accessing course
announcements, materials, and assignments; taking online quizzes;
communicating with course participants; and sharing documents and
projects with instructors and classmates. Additional system functionality
includes but is not limited to: note-taking tools, glossary tool,
personal information management, discussion boards, virtual classroom
including chat and hand raising functionality, group collaboration,
testing/assessment, and grade tracking and weighting.
